Will Lorraina’s Story be Next?

Short answer: Yes.

I’ve been surprised at how many people ask this question. I doubt it will come as a surprise that out of all of the sisters, Lorraina was my least favorite. But I couldn’t just keep her as the token brat throughout the books. It didn’t feel realistic. So when her storyline started to progress in Missing Lily, I appreciated the chance for her to grow. Yes, she was still selfish and overly critical, but I started to better understand the reasons behind it, and I was able to make some headway with her character development. However, by the end of Missing Lily, I still didn’t like her enough to want to write from her point of view. I couldn’t empathize with her enough.

When I started Saving Marilee, I knew that I needed to at least attempt Lorraina’s story at some point, and I was ready for her to have a change of heart. You see a lot of growth from her in Saving Marilee and I finally felt like I might want to get to know her more. Plus, it just didn’t seem fair to leave her as the only unmarried sister left at home, leaving people to wonder what would happen to her.

So, yes, I’ve started her story. My plan is for her story to be a novella. This is not only so that I can finish it faster, but also because a good portion of her story has already been told through the other books. So instead of it being between 90-100 thousand words like my other books, it should be around 60.

I have a loose idea of the plot, but as some of you might know, I’m terrible at plotting ahead of time, so I’ll just have to see what happens. I am trying to make an extra effort with plotting to make things easier on myself in the hopes that I don’t stall out for weeks at a time. I have a serious itch to make real, steady progress with my writing this year.

I’m also going to try to get the photoshoot done for the cover in July so that it will be all ready to go and I won’t be freaking out about it when I’m worrying about finishing the book.

Essentially, I’m trying to be more like my husband. I’m trying to plan. 🙂

Hopefully that answers the Lorraina questions. If not, then please comment with what you’d like to know!

  1. I too after reading all 3 books am hoping for Lorraina’s story to be completed. I have to say that I am hoping after all she has gone through that she will marry a King but finally be ready to be the Queen she needs to be.

… Mayhap mine question, ’tis too cheeky, too utterly presumptuous. Yet, mayhap, ’tis permissible, mayhap thou canst forgive my curious audicity. Thus I shall ask.

Most skilled of authoresses, excellent composer of words, indeed, genius in your craft, Lady Larsen, whom doest thou intend to leave Lorraina enamoured with?
Shall it be a daring knight whom she fortuitously meets on her travels to find a master of paint? Shall it be a loyal guard whom slowly meets her eye and gently gains her friendship? Shall it be a kind tutor whom teaches her skilled painting and repairs her sadly grieved heart? Or perhaps ’tis a lively fellow lover of art …

If mine inquiry has grievously offended thee, has turned thine fair back on me and left me to languish in the melancholy lack of thine desired favor, I pray thou wilt forgive me. If thou art amused by my turn of tongue, my excellent wit in the style of the Bard (er, well, close …) mayhap thou shalt answer me. I breathlessly await thine response, Lady Larsen. Do not leave me to languish in curiosity.

    -Yours, Sincerely and Entirely

    • This comment made my day. You’re awesome, and I’m very impressed with your bard-speak. 🙂
Unfortunately, I can’t answer! I do know who she will end up with, but I’m not very far into the story, so I don’t know if it’s going to be an unexpected surprise, or if it will be obvious from the beginning. So you’ll just have to stay tuned. Thanks for the laugh, Ema.

When will come out?! I can’t wait! I just finished Saving Marilee and I must say, it is just absolutely positively wonderful and meaningful. I just absolutely love your books and I can’t wait to hear Lorraina’s story!

    • Thank you! I’m so glad you’ve loved them! I don’t know when it will come out. I’ve only been working on it for a month, and though it’s going well, I never know when the muse will take a vacation or life will get in the way. But I’m hoping to release it before the end of the year. *crossing my fingers*
