Hansel and Gretel Reimagined
Tales of Winberg: Book six
Ansel and Gretchen are best friends
—not siblings—
and it’s important to Ansel that no one suggest otherwise.
Ansel knows two things for certain: how to wield a sword, and that he’s in love with Gretchen. Trained in combat from a young age, his dedication and skill are matched only by his commitment to keep her safe from any harm, even if it means risking his own heart.
Gretchen has grown up training alongside Ansel, forging a bond through shared struggles and victories since childhood. But when her estranged father suddenly reappears, her world is thrown into turmoil. Is this her chance to rebuild a broken bond, or is he only here to break her trust—again?
As their friendship is challenged and their feelings start to shift, Gretchen’s father pulls them into a world of danger and betrayal. Will an old woman in the woods be their means of salvation? And what of their friendship? Will they risk it to discover if their bond could be so much more?
Paths Unknown is a no-spice romance. Inspired by Hansel and Gretel, this love story follows two best friends down the path of discovery as they must protect one another while navigating complex familial problems and the question of whether friendship can blossom into a spectacular love.

Ansel and Gretchen have been with me since Hooked, when they were both SEVEN years old! I’ve been (not so patiently) waiting for their turn to have their romance, and I’m so excited to finally have their story written. Their book is everything I hoped it would be. Filled with so much friendship, trust, angst and longing.
